Drink Up: The Benefits of Hydration for Mind and Body!
Did you know that the human body is composed of 60% water?
Adequate hydration is crucial for overall health. It regulates body temperature, maintains physical and cognitive performance, supports metabolism and removes waste and toxins from the body.
Studies have found that adequate hydration improves energy, physical performance and especially endurance and muscle strength, during exercise.
It improves skin health by improving skin hydration and elasticity and reducing the signs of skin aging.
Dehydration can actually cause symptoms like fatigue, headache, dizziness, dry mouth and decreased urine output.
It is recommended to drink at least 8 cups (64 ounces) of water per day, although individual needs may vary depending on activity level, environment, body weight and overall health. It is important to listen to your body and drink enough water to maintain proper hydration. The color of your pee is also a good indicator. Ideally, it should be clear to pale yellow. However high-dose vitamins can turn your pee a brighter yellow, so keep that in mind.
What is also very important is to ensure that the water you drink is safe and good for your health. Remember to choose a good water filtration system, don’t drink from plastic bottles and choose bottled water wisely,
‘Prevention is better than cure’, so stay hydrated and stay healthy!
