Arriba Nacional is a rare and highly sought-after variety of cacao that is grown exclusively in high-elevation volcanic soil. The water source is rain or deep mountain spring water. It is known for its complex flavor profile and this unique flavor profile is a result of the unique microclimate and soil conditions found in this region. Only 0.15% of the world’s production, that is how rare and exclusive this pure Heirloom Ecuadorian Arriba Nacional Cacao is.
One of the most notable characteristics of Arriba Nacional cacao is its high percentage of flavonoids, which are antioxidants that have been shown to have various health benefits.
Another unique aspect of our cacao is that the pods are hand selected and never acquired from aggregators, therefore no possible blending of beans with any low-quality hybrids that are pervasive in the area. These are only harvested when fully mature and ripe.
